About
Consulting for problems that do not respect department lines.
Masters Consulting Group is a client-facing management and technology consulting practice focused on translating ambiguous organizational problems into clear decisions, workable systems, capable people, and implementable change.
Established 2011 Selective in both directions Built for the long horizon
Why “Masters”
The name encodes a staffing standard.
Masters Consulting Group was founded on a simple principle: professionals representing the firm in a domain should have advanced formal education relevant to that domain. A master's-level or higher credential establishes the academic foundation; it does not establish mastery by itself.
As the Group grows, admission also depends on demonstrated capability, sound judgment, intellectual honesty, communication ability, professional reliability, and the ability to work across disciplines. Complex client problems should be staffed with people whose actual training and competence belong to the problem.
Read the Masters admission standardThe work
Business understanding and domain expertise belong in the same conversation.
Many organizational problems become expensive because the business problem is separated from the process, the process from the technology, the technology from decision rights, the people system from the operating system, or the recommendation from implementation.
Masters works across those seams. The objective is to make the system understandable enough to improve it and concrete enough to operate it.
Operating principles
A consulting practice should improve judgment, not replace it with jargon.
- 01
Problem before product
Do not begin with a preferred tool, platform, framework, or technology.
- 02
Economics before novelty
A capability is useful only when its expected value, operating burden, and risk make sense for the organization.
- 03
Authority before autonomy
When systems act, decision rights, permissions, human accountability, escalation, and evidence should be explicit.
- 04
Implementation before theater
Recommendations should become requirements, owners, artifacts, controls, and measurable operating changes.
- 05
Capability before dependency
The client should understand the resulting system well enough to govern and sustain it, and employees should be developed to operate it well.
- 06
Evidence before certainty
Distinguish what is known, what is assumed, what must be tested, and what changed after implementation.
The client standard
Masters is selective about the organizations it helps become more successful.
A prospective client does not need to already be excellent. An organization with serious problems can be an excellent client when leadership genuinely wants to improve. The distinction is between imperfection and unwillingness to become better.
We look for leadership willing to serve customers responsibly, develop people, examine truthful evidence, change systems when the evidence requires it, and create enough legitimate value to justify the engagement.
A large fee is not, by itself, enough reason to accept an engagement.
The talent standard
Recruit broadly. Select narrowly.
Masters continuously looks for exceptional master's-level and higher professionals so the firm can bring in the right domain expertise when a client problem genuinely requires it. Applying does not create membership in the Group.
Admission means Masters is prepared to place its institutional reputation behind that professional's judgment in the domain they represent. The standard includes capability evidence, reasoning, communication, integrity, operating fit, and continuing performance — not a degree alone.
Learn about joining MastersThe long horizon
The institution is the enduring intelligence system.
Masters is built around a conviction that outlives any particular technology: an organization's durable advantage is what it knows, remembers, governs, and can continue — across people, procedures, systems, decisions, data, and institutional memory.
That conviction is also an active research thesis, Governed Institutional Intelligence, which Masters publishes as research rather than selling as a validated commercial offering.

Masters Consulting Group and 729 LLC have different jobs.
Masters Consulting Group: apply, advise, implement.
Masters is the client-facing practice. It diagnoses organizational problems, assembles the expertise required, designs interventions, supports implementation, and measures whether the resulting operating system improved.
729 LLC: investigate, build, test, publish.
729 LLC is the research, semantic publishing, public-record, product, and intellectual-property institution. Public research may inform a Masters engagement, but consulting work does not turn 729 LLC into a general services company, and client work is not treated as research by default.

If the work does not help someone make a better decision, develop stronger capability, or operate a better system, it is not finished.
The point of analysis is not analysis. The point is improved judgment, clearer ownership, better execution, stronger people, and evidence that the intervention did what it was supposed to do.
